What will my first visit to your physical therapy office be like?

Once you have filled out your new patient forms, you will meet with your therapist to discuss your pain problems and medical history. This one on one evaluation helps us get to know your needs, including discovering your range of motion, an assessment of your joints and soft tissues, and any muscle or neurological testing you may need.

What do I need to bring with me, and how should I dress?"

Bring your physical therapy referral and payment information, as well as any additional information for your case, such as insurance card, workers' comp claim number, auto insurance information, etc.
Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing that will allow us access to your problem area.

How to get the most out of your physical therapy:

Before your session, reflect on questions like these: Where is my pain? When do I experience pain? Are there certain activities that are more painful? The more you can tell us, the better we can help you.
Prioritize your physical therapy sessions as they are scheduled at the optimal time to continue your healing. Not sticking to your physical therapy schedule can reduce the effectiveness of your physical therapy. It is best to come a little early to relax and hydrate a little beforehand.
Wear comfy/appropriate clothes. For example, if you are experiencing shoulder pain, wear a shirt that is loose and allows for easy access to your shoulder and arm. If you have knee pain you should wear shorts, or bring a pair to change into.
Do your at-home exercises. Doing your exercises is absolutely imperative to your healing so don’t just set your exercise notes on your side table and forget about them.

Be patient, healing in a healthy manner takes time and effort...it is a process. You will notice the difference with time.
